Have you met our fundraisers? You might have seen them outside of a retail store or on a sidewalk in your city — or even met them passing through your neighborhood. You can easily identify Plan fundraisers by their blue uniforms, which have our logo visible on the front, and their ID badges. We partner with trusted face-to-face fundraising agencies GiveBridge and Global Faces to engage with our supporters across the U.S.

Having a one-on-one conversation with them is a great way to learn about how your monthly support helps transform girls’ lives and combats global gender inequality.

When you choose to become Her Defender through one of our fundraisers, you join a group of individuals who believe that collectively we can make progress for girls’ futures right now.

Her Defenders are part of a movement that’s flipping the script, supporting girls to lead solutions that improve their lives. Fueled by our supporters, we make powerful solutions for girls, with girls.

Our fundraisers will give you the opportunity to make a recurring gift on electronic tablets and securely record your name, address and additional information so we can connect with you. They will ask for recurring monthly gifts via credit card which comply with regulations for financial data security; they will never ask for a cash donation.

Your monthly gift helps protect girls’ lives and their futures by:

• Providing clean water for schools and building safe bathrooms so girls no longer miss class because of their period.
• Providing scholarships, school uniforms, supplies and safe transportation so that girls have equal opportunity to an education.
• Protecting girls during emergencies when they are among the most vulnerable to violence and exploitation.
• Elevating girls’ voices and supporting young people as they build a more equal world for us all.

How you can help girls rewrite their futures

Muta’s school is nearly a five mile walk from the remote farming village in Cambodia where she lives with her parents and two younger brothers. By the time she arrives to class, she’s exhausted. Many days she’s hungry too. When she can, she tries to save food from her evening meal to eat the following morning.

“I sometimes have to study without any breakfast,” Muta says.

With the generous support of people like you, our staff in Cambodia help girls like Muta stay in school through a program that provides girls with accelerated learning classes, financial scholarships and bicycles. Now, Muta rides her new bicycle to school every day and is doing well in class.

Muta also receives a scholarship to cover school fees, and her family participates in training to strengthen their skills in livestock rearing and gardening. We’re also raising funds to build a school closer to her village. This is the change Her Defenders are creating with girls around the world.

Right now, girls are facing unprecedented challenges around the world. We know from more than 85 years of experience that in times of crisis, girls eat less and last. We know they get pulled out of school, forced into early marriage and into giving birth at a young age. These things can change the whole trajectory of a girl’s life and future.

Her Defenders are devoted to uplifting girls, focusing on their unique hopes, needs and aspirations – and taking action to make them a reality.

Together, we can create a future where every girl is safe, empowered and free to reach her full potential.

And we won’t stop until we are all equal.
