Youth Advisory Board
The Plan International USA Youth Advisory Board is a body of young people ages 14-22 from all corners of the U.S.
Alongside staff and leadership, we work as a core part of Plan USA and are youth ambassadors of Plan’s global mission, advancing diverse perspectives and ensuring the agency of youth in building a better world. Together, we won’t stop until we are all equal.
What does a YAB member do?
Dedicate at least 10 hours per month to accomplish the following:
- Attend full YAB meetings and subcommittee meetings monthly, as well as other events and external engagements as applicable,
- Attend advocacy events/opportunities at member’s discretion,
- Provide input into youth-related policies, practices and programs for both internal and external Plan USA programming,
- Support or lead ideation, planning, recruitment for and facilitation of the annual, fully YAB-led Youth Leadership Academy.
Plan International USA covers all expenses related to Youth Advisory Board engagement to ensure our programming is as accessible and barrier-free as possible for all young people in the U.S. YAB members receive a bi-annual stipend for fulfilling the above responsibilities. As the Youth Advisory Board of Plan International USA, we champion representation, accessibility and advocacy to advance an equitable world for girls and young people. Together, we won’t stop until we’re all equal.
Our mandate:
- Representation: To communicate the youth perspective in the Plan International USA organization, affecting policies, youth programming and engagements.
- Accessibility: To provide opportunities and access to young people, which allow them to make change in their communities and our nation.
- Advocacy: To use our expertise to enact change, through effective consultation and organized action.
