Girls vs. the Machine: The Algorithms are Sexist

Join us for this interactive workshop where we explore how the internet’s algorithms and AI are perpetuating cultural gendered stereotypes that erode girls’ confidence, leadership and misrepresent them in society. During this workshop we’ll take a deep dive into a current project between Plan and Unsplash where we reset Unsplash’s algorithm and engaged photographers to flood the database with girl-approved images to help cancel the culture of sexism and misrepresentation in stock photography. You’ll have the opportunity to play in active role in disrupting this “machine” and learn strategies for reclaiming representation.
Lack of Power: The Global Fight for Abortion Rights
October 11th, 6 – 7 PM ET
Join Plan International USA’s Youth Advisory Board for a roundtable that explores how we can advocate for abortion rights within policymaking systems that do not accurately represent the opinions of people that can have abortions, especially youth. We will hear from experts and youth activists who will share case studies on abortion policy. Then, we will learn what pro-choice activism looks like around the world and how we can prevent future (or further) setbacks to reproductive health rights.
