Senior Director, Development Programs

John Lundine is the Senior Director of Development Programs at Plan International USA, an international humanitarian and development organization that partners with adolescent girls and children around the world to overcome oppression and gender inequality. Plan provides the support and resources that are unique to their needs and the needs of their communities, ensuring they achieve their full potential with dignity, opportunity and safety.

In this position, John supervises teams which oversee the design and technical quality of all long-term development programs including those funded by the U.S. government, corporations, foundations and individuals. In addition, he leads the creation and use of evidence-based approaches that are youth-led and gender transformative while ensuring programs are targeted, relevant and impactful.

John has more than two decades of experience in international development. Prior to starting his current role in November 2021, John was the Country Director of Plan International Guatemala where he led a 55% growth in the Country Office budget and the response to three humanitarian emergencies. He previously worked for Save the Children in a variety of roles including Deputy Country Director in Ethiopia, Director of Programs in Indonesia, Chief of Party in the Dominican Republic and Associate Director of Operations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

John has a master’s degree in agriculture, environmental and development economics from The Ohio State University and a bachelor’s in public policy from Duke University. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, reading, listening to music and podcasts, and getting outdoors, particularly on his mountain bike.
